The lobby of this charming hotel is actually housed in a colonial-era French villa. Guest rooms are in a newly-built addition and are spacious, albeit spartan in their decor and furnishing. You'll find all the amenities you would expect in a mid-priced hotel, including air conditioning, cable TV, direct-dial phones and mini-bar. But the Desyloia's best feature is the charming and helpful staff.

Long a favorite with our readers, the Desyloia has begun to show its age. Other drawbacks: bathrooms are a bit on the small side, there's no swimming pool and street noise can be a problem on the lower floors, so be sure to request a room on an upper floor.
